Margie Blazier is the Bryan Regional Coordinator for Bridges To life, coordinating projects at the Hamilton Unit in Bryan, the Estelle, Byrd, Wynne, Goree and Walls Units in Hunstville, the Eastham Unit in Lovelady and Luther Unit in Navasota.
Margie was born and raised in Brooklyn N.Y. The 1960’s Brooklyn neighborhoods were not safe and Margie saw and experienced a lot of injustice in her young life. She felt pain for those who were beaten, raped, victimized, and abused, which led to a desire to help the underdog. In 1979, she left the neighborhoods she had known to raise her two young boys in Texas. In 1981, she lost her oldest son in a school bus accident and eventually suffered the loss of her 20 year marriage.
In 2002, she was asked by her friend, Deborah Hartman, to join her at a Bridges To Life meeting in Austin. Margie finally agreed to go and decided to give in to that small voice that kept telling her, “I want you in this”. She thought, “I’ll do one.” After doing one project, Margie was hooked. In Bridges To Life, Margie found and got back the opportunity she thought she’d lost to make a difference in others lives and in her world.
Margie remarried and, in 2003, moved to the Bryan/College Station area. In 2005, John Sage asked if she would be interested in doing the ground work for BTL in that region. She has been serving there ever since, along with her husband Jerry, who has been a volunteer since 2003.
